Somewhere around the year 2001, I started to dabble in the online travel industry. It is a great hobby, and I have really enjoyed it. In fact, I am still involved with a few travel sites because it's so addicting (OK - maybe not QUITE as addicting as Disney)! The thing I like most about doing this as a hobby (as opposed to a business), is that after working all day, it's nice to come home and run a hobby (rather than a business)! I just love to help people find good deals on travel, and it is sometimes SO confusing. Over the years, many travel sites have come and gone, and travel search has gotten much easier. It used to be that you had to go to each site and enter your details AGAIN and AGAIN on each site. The true travel bargain hunters out there will definitely remember spending hours to find a good price on a flight, hotel, car or vacation. Well, since then, there have been several travel search engines, that allow you to enter your details ONCE, and then make selections to search for your dates/details in several sites at once. BookingBuddy and Kayak are both very good, but my personal favorite happens to be BookingWIZ, which was a small start up that has achieved rapid growth due to its ease of use. I find it so easy to use, and best of all, it's free! They receive money from sending the traffic to the various travel sites, and the user then books the travel on the site it is referred to. I've been trying to price airline tickets lately from Minneapolis to Orlando, and BookingWIZ has saved me so much time by allowing me to enter my details only once.
